Are there course time limits?
Yes, the event ends and finish line will officially close at 5:00 PM. At that time the event will be officially over, and all cyclists who are still on the course will be required to stop.
May I switch events after I register?
If you’re registered for the Family Fondo (31 mile), then you may NOT switch events.
However, if you are registered in either the Medio Corsa (53 mile) or the Gran Fondo (101 mile), then you may switch events up until the start.
In addition, if you are registered in either the Medio Corsa (53 mile) or the Gran Fondo (101 mile), then you may switch to the Family Fondo on the day of the event. PLEASE NOTE that if you choose to move down in distance, there will be NO REFUNDS of any kind.
How do I get my bib number and timing chip?
Cyclists may pick up their registration packets on:

How do I get my free cycling jersey?
If you register on or before January 15, 2010, then you’ll receive your jersey during packet pick-up. If you register after January 15, 2010, you will either receive your jersey at packet pick-up (if it’s in stock) or we’ll mail your jersey to you if we don’t have your size.
I can’t pick up my bib number before the event day.
May I pick it up on the morning of the event?
Yes. However pre-event packet pick-up is ONLY OPEN from 5:00 to 6:30 AM… so get there EARLY!
May I have someone pick up my event packet, number and timing chip for me?
Yes; but only if they present a copy of your picture ID. And you must still sign your waiver in order to start the event.
What is the refund policy?
All entry fees are NONREFUNDABLE and NONTRANSFERABLE. There will be NO REFUNDS under any circumstances.
What do I receive with my paid entry fee?
Each official registrant will receive:
- FREE limited edition 4-color Briko cycling jersey!

- Official finisher’s medal
- Chip timing
- King & Queen of the Mountain awards in every age group (Gran Fondo long course only)
- Well stocked aid stations

What are the event distances?
- Gran Fondo — Long Route (101 miles/162 km)
- Medio Corsa — Medium Route (53 miles/85 km)
- Family Fondo — Short Route (32 miles/51 km)
What support is provided on the course?
Aid stations are located at approximately every 15-20 miles. Each aid station will offer water, sports drink, fruit and other food. Toilets will also be present at the aid stations.
Will medals be presented?
Yes. All cyclists who complete the official course before 5:00 PM will receive an official finisher’s medal.
Is the Gran Fondo Colnago San Diego a race?
No. It’s a recreational bike tour.
Are there awards?
Yes! King — and Queen – of the Mountain awards will be presented for the fastest times up the Honey Springs climb. We’ve more than doubled the number of awards compared to 2009. Visit the KOM Awards page for all of the details.
Please note: King & Queen of the Mountain awards are only available to those who complete the entire Gran Fondo (101 mile) route.
What is the average temperature on race day?
60 – 65 degrees Fahrenheit is typical, with temperatures in the mid-50’s at the start of the event. However, in 2009 the event experienced unseasonably hot temperatures. Our best advice: be prepared to ride in any condition. The event will take place rain or shine, so be sure to bring the proper apparel.
When will the results be posted?
Results will be made available on event day and will also be available online as soon as they certified.
